The directive
The European directive 2002/95/EC ("Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electronic equipment") usually referred as RoHs directive is restricting the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipments placed on the market beginning July 1, 2006. This applies to Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB) and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether (PBDE).
