Gasket/Cover PCB Shield for Cellular Handset
.....Shielding
in a cellular handset was provided by a series of board-mounted
metal cans, along with a shielded outer housing. For a lower
cost solution, Chomerics designed a slim-profile metallized
plastic PCB cover with an integral conductive elastomer gasket.
The new design provided EMI isolation between adjacent circuits,
while preventing external radiated emissions.

Chomerics CHO-VER Shield assembly features a UL 94V-0 rated
plastic "cap", with nickel/copper plating on its interior surfaces.
The gasket is CHO-SEALā 1310 silver-plated-glass filled elastomer,
molded onto the cover's narrow walls.

gasket mates with PCB ground traces, providing a continuous,
low-impedance path. Chomerics used in-house Finite Element Analysis
(FEA) to develop the very low closure force gasket profile,
circumventing costly trial and error prototyping.

Shield assemblies can be manufactured to meet large volume requirements,
advancing through prototyping in 3 to 4 weeks.
